My life Brown Booby was tallied as it appeared above my head while snorkeling in Curacao, NA. Boobies in the ABC's were not very common, but in any case the Brown Booby is the Sulid most likely to be seen from shore.
I was very pleased with how close to shore the Brown Boobies hunted. I attempted many flight-shots, and this one is typical of the results. Smuggler's Cove, Tortola, BVI. February, 2003. CP-4500 and EagleEye OpticZoom 5X lens.
A shot of an adult Bird in flight. Smuggler's Cove, Tortola, BVI. February, 2003. CP-4500 and EagleEye OpticZoom 5X lens.
A preening Bird atop a rocky crag. While attempting this shot, I had to hike along a very sheer cliff face and shoreline. Shortly into my shooting, my footing gave way and I sliced my ankle to a bloody mess on the sharp volcanic rock! Still, it was worth the effort... Brewer's Bay, Tortola, BVI. February, 2003. Perhaps staring me down? Brewer's Bay, Tortola, BVI. February, 2003. CP-4500 and EagleEye OpticZoom 5X lens.
