MERLIN
 |
In January, 2003 I attempted a near impossible feat. I was able to get good digiscoped shots of a Peregrine Falcon is Oswego. Then a Kestrel and a Gyrfalcon down by Cayuga Lake in February. Only one more species was lacking. I got to digiscope this Merlin on a cloudy, nasty day in April. Falcon Sweep!!
Winter was still hanging in tough even in April. Thus, it was easy to notice this fellow perched atop a large, leafless Cottonwood. Long Point SP, near Aurora, NY. April-2003. CP-4500, Swarovski ST-80 HD scope.
As I set up my scope, the Bird stopped preening. Long Point SP, near Aurora, NY. April-2003. CP-4500, Swarovski ST-80 HD scope.
He eventually calmed down, but his attention was drawn to the Lake quite often. Long Point SP, near Aurora, NY. April-2003. CP-4500, Swarovski ST-80 HD scope.
I digitally added a blue sky to this shot. Oh, to have a nice sunny day and a cooperative Merlin!! Long Point SP, near Aurora, NY. April-2003. CP-4500, Swarovski ST-80 HD scope.
